"The Secret Woman" is a gripping and thought-provoking Nordic thriller that kept me guessing until the very end. On the surface it is a mystery about a woman trying to piece together a past she cannot remember, but underneath it is a story about how well we truly know the people closest to us.
The movie made me realize how many "aha" moments we have in life. You feel that you really know someone. You believe in them, and you would put your hand in the fire swearing they would never do something like that. And in the end, they do. Sometimes it is even the person you love the most.
That is what stayed with me after the credits. The film quietly reminds us that a perfect picture from the outside can hide a very different truth inside, and that trust, as beautiful as it is, should never make us close our eyes completely.
If you enjoy slow-burning, suspenseful stories that make you look at the people around you a little differently, this movie is worth your evening.
